Bridge Program             Summer Outreach Program

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

214 Engineering and Technology Building
The Department of Electrical Engineering offers courses leading to the Degree of Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). The curriculum is offered in three options, General Option, Computer Engineeringand VLSI Option. Students are prepared to pursue careers in technical areas such as power systems, communications, signal processing, integrated circuits, computers, manufacturing, and robotic systems. Graduates pursue careers in manufacturing, research and development, and management They are also prepared to pursue private practice and graduate education. This program is designed to meet the requirements of the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) of the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as well as those of the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Program Objectives

The primary objectives of the program are:

1. to provide students with the basic tools to pursue careers in electrical engineering and private practice. To accomplish this mission, the program provides strong, fundamental education in the traditional areas of electrical engineering, meaningful laboratory experiences, develops computer competencies, and provides sufficient flexibility by providing technical electives so that students may acquire additional competence in current and emerging technologies;
2. to extend beyond the purely technical studies, so as to provide students with a sense of social responsibility as responsible members of society; and

3. to provide students with a firm foundation and emphasize the importance of continued learning either through graduate education or continuing education programs.
