RESEARCH EMPHASIS
Students will gain research experience in one or more of NSF-CREST’s (Center for Forest Ecosystem Assessment) five research areas:
1. The interaction of fire frequency and stand density on plant community dynamics
2. Macroinvertebrate and vertebrate community responses to forest disturbance
3. Biogeochemical nutrient cycling dynamics in a disturbed Cumberland Plateau forest ecosystem
4. Molecular phylogeography of introgression in red oak hybrids of the Cumberland Plateau
5. The Human Dimensions of Forest Ecosystems Management
