IntraMural Sports
MISSION STATEMENT

The department of Intramural Recreational Sports is an essential component to the overall mission for Alabama A&M University. The primary emphasis is to support the total development and well being of members of the University community with a wide range of qualifying opportunities which foster personal, educational, ethical and physical development.

Eligibility

Only those who are enrolled at Alabama A&M can
participate in the Intramural Program.

Fraternities
Serorites
Dorms
Faculty and Staff

are encouraged to participate in the program.

Student may not compete in the sport which he or she has Lettered: unless that i ndividual have sat out a calendar year in Intramurals


Rules

  1. Alcohol ,Tobacco is not allowed on campus at anytime
  2. Team has 24 hrs to notify office of forfiet. 3 forfiets without notification team will be deleted from Schedule.
  3. Teams or team fights can result in that team or both teams being removed from schedule. Player or players will have to go before judicial board.
    Player or players can be suspended for remaining of season.
  4. Player can only play for one team for that season.

This central purpose is served by activities designed---

  • To be responsible in serving a diversity of needs among the entire University community;
  • To offer an atmosphere conducive to fellowship and meaningful-interaction among students, faculty and staff in this unique area of education and physical activity;
  • To offer programs and services which emphasize morally and ethically responsible behavior at all times; and
  • To provide innovative leadership in promotion of the wellness concept.

Fitness

There are several activities offered in the Recreational program at AAMU that will allow our students, faculty and staff to improve their bodies physically.

Weight Training at Thomas Elmore Gym Room I 4:00pm to 7:30pm
Water Aerobics 7:00pm to 8:00pm (M&W)
Recreational Swimming 7:00pm to 8:00pm (T&TH)
Free Weight Work Outs 6:00pm to 9:00pm (M-TH)
Walking Club" comfortable shoes are all that is needed to get a good workout around the stadium.. March 12th, 2001

Outdoor Activities

Fishing - March 10th, April 7th & 14th
Students, Facuty and Staff must have Fishing license to make trip. Fishing Tackle will not be provided. Cost $0.00....
Hiking - March 3rd, April 28th & May 5th
Student and Faculty are asked to wear sturdy shoes and jeans when Hiking. Bottle water also would be good to have. Cost $0.00....
Canoeing

-March 17th & April 14th
A extra change of clothes would be smart to have in case you get wet.
If weather permitt the trip could be moved to a earlier date.
Also water levels will determine our Trip.
Cost $5.00 per Person

Horseback Riding - March (TBA)
Sturdy shoes and pants will be needed when Horseback Riding.
