School of Engineering & Technology: Center for Transportation Infrastructure Safety and Security

Welcome

It is with pleasure to announce the formation of the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Safety and Security (TIS2) at AAMU.  The focus of TIS2 is to coordinate basic and applied research related to the nation’s transportation infrastructure safety and security.  One of the missions of this new Center is to educate students in the latest transportation infrastructure technologies through hands-on research and experience.

Mission, Objectives and Goals

The Center for Transportation Infrastructure Safety and Security strives to excel in applied and fundamental research on safety and security of transportation infrastructure systems. The Center aims to achieve national and international prominence in targeted research areas that include homeland security, transportation safety, nanotechnology for transportation systems, smart materials and devices for safety and security of transportation systems.  The Center is expected to enhance economic growth and foster industrial development in Alabama by stimulating in-depth research and education in the transportation infrastructure systems. Funding for the Center is sought from state and federal government agencies, and industrial partners.
