What does the IEEE mean?

IEEE is an acronym for the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. The organization of IEEE dates back to 1884. At such time,IEEE was known as the American Institute of Electrical Engineers(AIEE) and the Institute of Radio Engineers(IRE) respectively. From this beginning IEEE has been a leading authority in technical areas such as

  • Computer Engineering
  • Biomedical technology
  • Telecommunications
  • Electrical Power
  • Aerospace

What can IEEE do for me?

The non-profit association of IEEE has more that 330,000 individual members in 150 countries. Such a wide spectrum in membership allows an unlimited amount of knowledge and expertise unheard of in other organizations. Through this diverse community YOU can benefit from

  • Prestigious awards and recognition of technical and professional developments
  • Opportunity for leadership and participation in numerous IEEE activities
  • Electronic commerce with the IEEE through a variety of Web-based services
  • Educational opportunities to ensure engineers' technical vitality
  • Special cost-saving and value-added benefits for MEMBERS ONLY

How can I become a Member of IEEE?
