The mission of Alabama A&M University Research Institute (AAMURI) is to pursue, negotiate, and enter into contracts in a timely and professional manner as well as to promote and aid in the fulfillment of educational functions of AAMU by which publications, discoveries, and inventions for the advancement of science and education are accomplished; and to ensure that all income from all sources of funding be devoted to the scientific, charitable and educational purpose of the Research Institute.
In an effort to realize the mission, the Research Institute proposes:
- To act as a catalyst and provide opportunities for continuous arrangement with industry, government agencies, Alabama institutions and the various schools within Alabama A&M University;
- To draw upon the existing research and educational capabilities of the various centers, departments and schools within Alabama A&M University, which are then utilized more effectively and with greater strength rather than each acting individually;
- To develop and market AAMURI's capabilities to Government and industry throughout the region, to develop joint grants and contracts and other cooperative agreements with other institutions and industry;
- To provide operating capital for reinvestment in technology that facilitates entry into emerging technologies requiring competitive capabilities within the market place, and expands opportunities aimed at producing quality engineers and scientists in support of the customer's needs.
