 What is AAMU ResNet?
The Alabama A&M University Residential Network (AAMU ResNet) provides Internet connectivity for students with personal computers living in campus residence halls. AAMU ResNet is available in selected dormitories (Foster & West) on campus and Normal Hills Student Apartments.
In order to connect to ResNet you will need to have a personal computer with minimum hardware and software requirements and a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet adapter with a RJ45 connector and a RJ45 patch cable. Read the minimum requirements below.

Policies
Access to the campus computing system is a privilege subject to rules of conduct. By using the network connection you agree to abide by all moral, ethical and legal restrictions applying to this privilege. These regulations do not exhaust all possible cases of misuse, and other restrictions, such as copyright laws, may also apply. Any violation of this agreement will make you subject to disciplinary action by the University, as well as civil and criminal penalties that may be imposed by the state and/or federal courts.
AAMU is not responsible for any damage to your personal computer or its peripherals while your computer is connected to the network. This includes hard drives crashes, other accidental data loss, damage to or loss of data files due to viruses, and damage to or loss of data on removable and non-removable media.
Hardware Requirements for a Windows System
Minimum Requirements for Network Compatibility:
Intel Pentium 100 MHZ or higher CPU
32MB RAM minimum
100MB free hard disk space
SVGA Color Display (Monitor)
Windows 95/98 or better
10Mbs Ethernet Adapter (either built-in or an add-on card) with RJ45 connector.

Pentium III 700 MHZ or higher
128MB RAM or Higher
10GB Hard Drive or Higher
SVGA Color Display
Windows XP
10/100 Mbs Ethernet Adapter (either built-in or an add-on card) with RJ45 Connector
Ethernet Adapters
Each system must have an Ethernet adapter in order to connect to the network. It should be a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet adapter (either built-in or an add-on card) with an RJ45 connector.
Wireless Internet Adapter
To have access to the wireless network, the wireless-equipped computer should be running the 802.11a, 802.11b or 802.11g wireless protocol. The wireless capability may be built in to your computer, especially on newer models (e.g., Dell TrueMobile 1150). Alternatively, you can outfit an older computer with a wireless USB or PCMCIA card.
Software
In order to connect to the Internet your computer will need to have the necessary software programs. If your computer already is configured with these programs, it will most likely work, but may need some configuration settings changed. If you do not have the necessary software, it can be provided.
Supported Internet Suite for Windows Systems:
