Registration through MonsterTRAK.com
All students (except non-traditional students and international students) are now required to register with CDS through MonsterTRAK.com. Alabama A&M University uses the MonsterTRAK system to automate registration and resume preparation for all students.
AAMU students who register with CDS, must first complete a MonsterTRAK registration form and pay the $20 registration fee. When you pay the registration fee, you will be issued a password which will enable you to complete your registration by logging onto MonsterTRAK to create a profile and upload your resume. Your resume is then critiqued by our office to insure that you have a presentable resume for referrals.
You must be registered with Career Development Services through MonsterTRAK AND have an approved resume on file before you can sign up for interviews using InterviewTRAK. There are a variety of resume formats available, but one that is NOT recommended is the template that is part of Microsoft Word. The hotlinks below will take you to general instructions on resume preparation and a sample resume.
Graduation Clearance Requirements
Once you have received your MonsterTRAK password, you must: 1. Log onto the MonsterTRAK website (http://www.MonsterTRAK.monster.com). 2. Click on the words Student/Alums. 3. On the next page, select the state of Alabama (AL). 4. When the list of Alabama colleges appears, highlight Alabama A&M University and click "Click Here." 5. In the box provided enter the password you were issued by CDS and click "Submit." 6. Click the button to Register. 7. Enter your email address, and then enter it again to ensure that it has been entered accurately. 8. Click "Submit." MonsterTRAK will send an email to this address to confirm your registration.
Complete as much information in the MonsterTRAK profile as you can. Required fields are marked with asterisks (*). Proof your information to make sure that it has been entered correctly. If you have accidentally listed yourself as a chemistry major instead of an accounting major, you will not show up in searches for accounting jobs.
You may upload a resume from almost any word processing program. Within five-seven business days, you should receive an email informing you as to the status of your resume -whether it has been approved as is, or whether revisions are required before it is approved. If revisions are required, you must set up an appointment for a resume critique. All corrections must be completed and the resume resubmitted. If you have not received an email within the 7 day period, please contact our office immediately. Please Note: Your registration is not complete, and you are not eligible to register for interviews until your resume has been APPROVED.
Using InterviewTRAK
InterviewTRAK is an on-campus recruiting management system provided through the Career Development Services office. Through InterviewTRAK you can:
· Submit your resume to companies who are visiting your campus to hire students/alumni · Sign up for on-campus interviews · Find out about upcoming on-campus presentations, information sessions, and group meetings · Access information about the recruiting company
Have your planner with you. Sign-up for an interview with a company only when interested and available. Contact Career Development Services to set up practice interview sessions.
1. Access MonsterTRAK icon (on this page) 2. Log in with your user name and password 3. Click on InterviewTRAK (if you do not have an approved resume in the system, you will not be able to access the InterviewTRAK icon) 4. Go to option "Opportunities", and click on box that says "Check here if you only want to see interviews for which you meet the employer’s requirements", then "go". (You may need to change the default dates to view a wider range of interviewing opportunities.) 5. Note that most interview schedules are for pre-select schedules and a few are open schedules (see below for details) 6. Click on the word “Details” to view more information, and note dates to submit resumes for pre-select schedules or to sign up on open schedules. 7. A "Submit Resume" button will appear when you are eligible to submit resumes for pre-select schedules, AND if the deadline to submit the resume has not passed. The "Sign Up" button will appear for open schedules when you meet the employer’s requirements for sign up and the sign up deadline has not yet passed. The "Sign Up" button will not appear if a schedule is full.
Pre-select Schedules Pre-selects require that you FIRST submit your resume to be considered for an interview. As soon as you see an opportunity that you are qualified for, submit your resume. All submitted resumes will be forwarded to the recruiter approximately two weeks before the interview event. The recruiter will in turn submit the names of the students they want to interview. These students will receive an email from CDS about their pre-select status and will be asked to log onto InterviewTRAK to select an timeslot that best suits their class schedule.
Open Schedules Open schedules allow any qualified candidate to select a timeslot for an interview. If a company has an open schedule, click on the word “Details” and review the job description.
CHANGING/CANCELLING INTERVIEW TIMES Interview times may be changed or cancelled up to five CALENDAR days before the scheduled interview, which includes weekend dates.
CANCELLATION OF INTERVIEWS AFTER THE DEADLINE Career Development Services does not permit the cancellation of interviews after the deadline except in extreme emergencies. You should only sign up for as many interviews as your schedule permits and with companies that are of interest to you. Should an emergency arise, contact Mrs. Crutcher at 256-372-8220 or call the main number at 256-372-5690. If calling after hours, please leave a detailed message.
Students sometimes resort to desperate measures in order to find employment. Please don’t ignore your common sense and disregard safety issues while engaging in your job search.
REMEMBER . . . 1. If someone wants to schedule an interview in a “private” place such as a hotel room or a personal residence, suggest a public place like a hotel lobby or a restaurant. 2. If someone you don’t know wants to take you to an interview location or a worksite in an automobile, be cautious. Ask to see verifying identification and a business card. 3. If someone says they got your resume from CDS and you are suspicious, contact us. Let us look into it and verify that the person is with the organization mentioned. 4. If it makes you feel uncomfortable, DON’T DO IT. No job is worth compromising your safety or your principles.
If you have any questions, please contact a CDS staff member. |
